Ren Koi is a British writer and philosopher, best known as a proponent of the Twelve Step program. An ex-DJ and music producer, Ren spent over ten years drinking alcoholically and using drugs, before joining a Twelve Step fellowship in 2010 following an emotional breakdown.
In 2012, Ren had a spiritual awakening as a result of working the Twelve Step program, and has since tried to carry the message of recovery to still-suffering alcoholics and addicts. Ren has worked in the substance misuse field since 2013, in partnership with people to help them change their lives for the better, and achieve positive and life-affirming goals.
In his first book, Addiction Prevention: Twelve Steps To Spiritual Awakening (2016), Ren proposed that we might halt the addiction epidemic by treating emotional disorder in children with The Twelve Step Program, thus preventing the onset of mental health issues that people attempt to medicate with addictive substances and damaging behaviours. Ren postulates that the implementation of Twelve Step classes in schools across the world could be revolutionary.
